SUSAN SCULLEY

Susan Sculley suffused light into her paintings. Her compositions of color and elusive form capture the peace that one experiences when communing with nature. Starting with a stroke of color on paper, layers are built up with oil sticks or pastels. Sculley preferred to rub the colors into the surface by hand creating a luminous effect. The landscapes are often, only subtly recognized, though feelings of repose and familiarity permeate each work.
