THE Story

Chicago Art Source was tasked with curating an art program for the Hyatt Centric Rosemont that captures the pulse of a city in motion. The goal was to create a visual story that is a “nod” or “look” to Chicago—dynamic, layered and full of discovery—while aligning with the Hyatt Centric brand’s sense of energy and discovery.

Through a collection of custom works and commissions, the program offers guests an interpretation of the city’s architecture, rhythm and color. The result is a whimsical yet refined expression of place, designed to encourage curiosity and connection.

At the heart of the lobby, a kinetic sequin mural by artist Kong Wee Pang shimmers in response to light and motion, evoking the endless reflections of Lake Michigan. The work embodies Pang’s first memory of Chicago—the lake’s sea-green hue merging with the sky.

Nearby, a custom commission by Christopher Warren expands on that sense of dynamic energy. Combining painted wood, mirrored and colored acrylic, and collaged flight path maps, the three-dimensional LED-lit wall sculpture celebrates the interconnectedness of travel and place.

Within destination restaurant CIMA, Scott Troxel’s “Y” introduces a sculptural nod to Chicago’s geography and design heritage. Crafted from pigmented lacquer on MDF and birch, the piece abstractly references the Chicago River’s two branches—its iconic “Y” shape a subtle emblem of civic pride.

Throughout the property’s lobby, meeting spaces and guest corridors, original mixed-media installations, sculptural wall pieces and local photographic studies of Chicago architecture create depth and rhythm. The art was also intentionally produced on a variety of print medium substrates, such as giclee prints on paper, canvas and acrylic face mounts to add layers of visual interest. Each piece supports the hotel’s modern interiors while reflecting the city’s creative spirit.

The final collection brings together texture, motion and perspective to evoke the energy of travel—and an art experience that feels both shareable and personal.
